Zusammenfassung:This review presents published data on the history of use, mechanism of action, and effectiveness of silver and silver-based drugs in surgical practice. A literature search was carried out using PubMed, EMBASE, Google Scholar, and E-Library databases. Analysis of available literature data convincingly demonstrates the effectiveness of silver nanocomposites as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents. The demonstrated antimicrobial property of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) against various antibiotic-resistant bacteria is especially significant for clinical use. Silver nanoparticles have clinically proven effective in treating wounds and trophic ulcers.
