Zusammenfassung:Antonio de Solís premiered his drama Las Amazonas, a theatrical, courteous and musical festival, in the Coliseo del Buen Retiro on February 7, 1655. Following the model of Lope de Vega, Solís configures an Amazonian kingdom that, presented from its beginning as susceptible to defeat, ends up being diluted in consonance with the structure and the outcome own of the mythological comedy of entanglement. This work is dedicated to studying to what extent the Amazons, as dramatic characters, differ so much from their mythological archetype as well as the treatment made of the subject in the Spanish Golden Age.
