Policy and Health in the Captaincy of Ceará (1790-1812)

This article presents the actions related to health and disease effect the Captaincy of Ceará, in the period extending from the last decade of the eighteenth century and the first fifteen years of the nineteenth century. In this sense, either through the actions suggested by the Portuguese crown or the interventions made by local authorities, it is clear the preoccupation and limits of actions for protection of health in Ceará historical reality.
