The application of RDA to archives: criticalities and advantages of using the universal metadata standard. The case of Galileo Chini Archive

This article shows the application of RDA (Resource Description and Access) guidelines to archives. The archive used belongs to the Tuscan artist Galileo Chini. This experimentation highlighted some critical issues in the alignment of RDA with the needs of the archival description. However, despite these difficulties, RDA proves to be a valid starting point for the description of resources and, in the future, following the dialogue and cooperation between the various stakeholders, it could become the only standard for the description of resources.
