Zusammenfassung: | This article aims at analyzing the so-called “Richard Millet affair”, which developed after the publishing of his essay Éloge littéraire d’Anders Breivik, by putting it into the perspective of another scandal, that occurred twelve years before, namely the “Renaud Camus affair”. It argues that these two literary scandals are part of the same time sequence, characterized by an increasing critique of multiculturalism, becoming more and more radical, to the point of reaching an imaginary state of civil war. In this respect, the Richard Millet affair makes it obvious that a well-established counter-discourse, that positions itself as part of a “dissident movement”, has gradually spread across the doxa. It also sheds light on the precarious position of intellectual critics, who do not manage to successfully confront these counter-discourses, because they fail to identify clearly the transgression and to collectively agree on the nature of the common good which needs to be defended in response. |
