Zusammenfassung:The two most productive sculptors of the Romanesque period in Alsace, the “Master of Eschau” and “Master of Andlau”, are known for pieces of works that remain of ten religious buildings. The confrontation of this sculptures shows that their authors worked at the same time, both inspired in particular by miniatures of the codex Guta-Sintram, a manuscript completed in 1154 in Marbach/Schwarzenthann. Moreover some written documents testify that the two artists worked about the middle of the 12th century. They had a large influence on the sculpture of the second half of the 12th century in Alsace.
