Resection of a left carotid body tumor in a young female patient: A case report

•Carotid Body is a well circumscribed reddish brown, highly specialized round organ located in the adventitia of the carotid bifurcation It functions as a chemoreceptor organ which is stimulated by acidosis, hypoxia and hypercapnea, and plays a role in the autonomous regulation of blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, and blood temperature by increasing sympathetic flow.•Carotid Body Tumor are commonly benign in nature only 5 % are malignant.•Most commonly encountered symptoms are Pain, dysphasia, autonomic dysfunction odynophagia, hoarseness, and stridor.
