Mafias between Education and Cultural Consumption: A Pedagogical Interpretation

Mafias are a growing social phenomenon which translates into significant cultural consumption. In order to activate an effective educational prevention action, it is necessary to deal with the media diffusion of the phenomenon, through literature and cinema, which in turn influence and cross-contaminate themselves with social media. Therefore, an effective pedagogical approach must start from the uncertainties of legality education, contextualizing the dynamics of organized crime in the context of the society of disinformation, which distances one from the understanding of reality. Faced with an ever-greater interference from the mafias, the pedagogical response seems to be the most necessary and urgent one, but it clashes with a political reality and educational timescales that are inevitably slow. All the more reasons to proceed quickly with an update of the pedagogical categories and the selection of school and university teachers, starting from the foundations of social coexistence: the use of words. Being aware of this is already a good step forward.
