Zusammenfassung: | The Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, also known as the peace pipeline, extend huge potential to lessen the incessant energy shortages and nurture economic growth for Pakistan. Multifarious proposals have been made on the pipeline project since its commencement in the 1990s, underscoring the strategic cooperation between the two countries. From economic outlook, the pipeline would ameliorate energy security, upgrade industrial production, and mitigate Pakistan’s energy expenses. From a strategic perspective, the pipeline portrays an essential component of regional collaboration and integration. Nevertheless, numerous hurdles stand in the way of its progression, encompassing budgetary limitations, regional security concerns, and geopolitical squabbles like the US sanctions against Iran. Additionally, the viability of project is impeded by convoluted political factors existing in Pakistan and the larger international community. To bridle these hurdles, Pakistan requires exploitation of multiple approaches. Although the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline ensures massive economic and strategic benefits for Pakistan, comprehending its potential entails a multifaceted strategy embracing diplomatic briskness, energy diversification, multilateral cooperation, and adhesive security measures. The qualitative method is utilized and case study design to inspect the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline conundrum. A comprehensive analysis of documents is given using secondary resources to explore the geopolitical and economic options available for Pakistan. |
