Acerca de la “filosofía del turismo” y de la educación turística: compromisos y responsabilidades

A piece of writing is intended which relates tourism, as a profession, to philosophy and education, appreciating the role of the touristologist, and in this way, transcending the character of the tourist who, commonly, takes pleasure in his or her egocentric intentions to produce an ephemeral and solipsistic pleasure (“solus ipse”), with the danger of opting for indifference, even, of what happens around him or her as an extension of consumerism and materialism. Still, and despite the fact that attempts have been made to generate responsible tourism committed to the cultural environment, ecology, and the legacy of historical heritage, this essay shows an ideal understood as a personal goal and with a pedagogical and ethical objective. This appreciation stems from the author’s existential, work, and academic experience, the ultimate goal of which is to denote a constant need to ethically interpret tourism, being itself a potential pedagogical path, rather than simply one aimed at leisure. Se pretende, de este modo, un escrito que relacione al turismo, como profesión, con la filosofía y la educación, apreciando el papel del turismólogo, y de este modo trascender al personaje del turista que, comúnmente, se complace en sus egocéntricas intenciones de producirse un placer efímero y solipsista (solus ipse), con el peligro de decantar en la indiferencia, inclusive, de lo que acontece a su alrededor: como extensión del consumismo y del materialismo. Aun, y a pesar de que se han realizado apuestas por generar un turismo responsable y comprometido con el entorno cultural, con la ecología y con el patrimonio histórico legado, el ensayo, muestra un ideal entendido como una meta personal, y con un objetivo pedagógico y ético. Esta apreciación parte de la experiencia existencial, laboral y académica del autor, cuyo fin último es denotar en una necesidad constante por interpretar éticamente al turismo, siendo, este, un potencial camino pedagógico, más que simplemente uno dirigido al ocio.
