The construction of the post-carbon society: what is the technological challenge?

This paper aims to discuss the controversy of climate change. The argument is that the current problems faced to legitimize decisions on global climate change stem from the contradiction between the structure of contemporary society without pluricontextual and hegemonic center, and the narrative of the emergence of global environmental risk. We will focus on technology issues, ie, give attention to “eco-technologies”, which refer to that set of technologies aimed at mitigating global warming. We will discuss as well the limitations for the construction of technologies adapted to society's overall environmental risk, highlighting political issues, science and technology.
