Zusammenfassung:This study aims at answering two questions: What are main characteristics of the trading of “strange” agricultural products of Chinese traders in the Mekong Delta? What are influences of the trading on live of the farmers? The study applies multi-dimensional approach. The issue is annalysed from the perspectives of the stakeholders: the media, farmers, traders, local authorities and experts. The perspectives of every takeholder revolve around five main axes: (i) Prevalence and characteristics of the phenomenon; (ii) Method of purchase; (iii) The involved agents and their roles; (iv) The benefits and losses; (v) The possibility to trade in the future. The result showed substantial differences in the assessment of the stakeholders. A product which is “strange” to us may be familiar to others. The trading of “strange” products at a high price is good for farmers as they can have additional revenue instead of selling them at a very low price or discarded. However, to increase the value and efficience of the trading, further scientific researches are necesary.
