Zusammenfassung:Background and Aims Chronic kidney disease is a progressive disease with poor prognosis. Chronic illness and prolonged need for dialysis may lead to mental disorders such as anxiety. The current study aimed to assess the effect of breathing anxiety level of patients undergoing dialysis. Methods This study was a clinical trial. A total of 100 patients undergoing hemodialysis were selected by convenience sampling method. Then the samples were randomly assigned to experimental and control group. The experimental group received breathing intervention for eight sessions in a month under the guidance of a nurse and the control group received routine care. The research instrument was a tow-part questionnaire of demographic data and Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation), and inferential statistics (independent t test, repeated measures and Chi-square).
