Zusammenfassung:Aim. To study the effect of overweight and obesity in totally extraperitoneal repair of unilateral inguinal hernia. Material and methods. The patients were divided into group I – 24 (50%) patients with overweigh, and group II – 24 (50%) patients with obesity stage I. All patients underwent totally extraperitoneal inguinal hernia repair. Results. The average operative time in group II was significantly (by 14.8%) longer than in group I. There were no significant differences between the compared groups in terms of severity of pain and results of the early postoperative period. Conclusions. The average operative time of totally extraperitoneal inguinal hernia repair in the group of patients with obesity stage I was significantly longer than in the group with overweight. Totally extraperitoneal inguinal hernia repair can be applied in patients with Nyhus 2, 3a and 3b types combined with overweight or obesity stage I.
