Zusammenfassung: | The objective of this research is to remove Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) contained in crude oil by utilizing Acetobacter tropicalis and Lactobacillus casei bacteria consortium through degradation process. Crude oil degradation was conducted on Stone Mineral Salt Solution (SMSS) liquid media and artificial sea water in a controlled environment with limited system. The implemented variations on SMSS liquid media are differentiated based on acidity (pH) of 3, 5, and 7, with contact time of 7, 14, and 21 days. On the other hand, the variation implemented on artificial sea water only applied on contact time of 7, 14, and 21 days. Samples were incubated on a shaker incubator with 30°C and 150 rpm. The sensitivity test revealed that consortiom bacteria are resistant against crude oil, which proven by the missing inhibiting zone formation around disc paper that contains crude oil. This research shows that the optimum condition to degreade TPH both on SMSS liquid media and artificial sea water is at pH level of 7 in 7 days with TPH removal efficiency of 94%. This research provides an important information that Acetobacter tropicalis and Lactobacillus casei bacteria consortium has the potential to degrade crude oil TPH in a controlled environment. |
