Zusammenfassung: | Background: the pandemic caused by COVID-19 led many countries to suspend the whole routine dental care. In our country, the attention to dental emergencies was guaranteed with human resources and the appropriate personal protective equipment.Objective: to describe the dental emergencies treated at the "Manuel Cedeño" University Clinic of Bayamo, Granma, in April and May 2020, during the epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19.Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional study was performed with 1350 patients who visited the aforementioned institution and during the period herein declared. The following variables were studied: age group, sex, health district of origin and dental emergencies.Results: the 19 to 59 age group (66 %) and the female sex (60,66 %) were the most represented ones. 77 % of the patients belonged to the health district where the clinic is located. In the diagnosis of emergencies: 23,04 % presented dentinal hyperesthesia, 18,96 % acute alveolar abscess, 12,40 % aphthous stomatitis and 12,07 % temporomandibular pain.Conclusions: the dental emergencies treated during the epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19 were described. |
