Zusammenfassung:This study aims to investigate the connection between social capital and sleep duration among older adults in Ghana, as limited research has been conducted to explore this relationship. This study utilized Wave 2 data from a sample of Ghanaian older adults from the World Health Organization Study on Global AGEing and Adult Health (SAGE). Self-reported data on social capital and sleep duration were compiled. Using ordered logistic regression, the relationship between social capital and sleep duration was examined. Older adults who did not participate in social activities showed the strongest association with the risk of short sleep ( < 0.05). Our study found that older adults who sleep for shorter periods tend to report better sleep quality. There was no correlation between medium and long sleep durations and social capital. This study underscores the importance of more research to truly understand the complex connections between older adults' social participation, sleep, and health. It also has important implications for the promotion of good sleep in aging populations.
