Zusammenfassung:This paper presents the previously unstudied Church of St. George in Pile as a significant early example of Renaissance classicism in Dubrovnik. The previously overlooked systematic use of classical forms on the church is analyzed in detail. The paper explores the similarities between St. George’s facade and those of other Dubrovnik churches, including Our Lady of Mercy, St. Roch, and the chapel of St. Jerome in the Gradić palace. Additionally, it discusses the early influence of architectural treatises by Sebastiano Serlio in Dubrovnik.
