Zusammenfassung: | At a time when some speak of « civilisation clash » in the West, while in Islamic land some denounce the deleterious effects of Western civilisation ; when the “Judeo-Christian” bases of European identity are put forward again, as if to underline the irreducible alterity of fifteen million Muslims settled in Europe (thus justifying the refusal to integrate Turkey), it might be useful to recall that over the centuries and on both sides of the Mediterranean, Christians and Muslims have chosen to change their religious identity, and have integrated into their new host societies. |
