Zusammenfassung:The historic cities in Spain have a long tourist path. However, during most of the twentieth century tourism has not been a relevant issue on the local agenda. This lack of interest from the municipal government contrasts with the early action of the "Unions Torism Iniciatives" and even initiatives of the tourist administration of the State. The situation changed in the nineties of the twentieth century when a powerful tourism policy is set. Since then, cities have tourism management bodies of increasing complexity. They have developped tourism plans and a broad set of actions of tourism policy. The economic crisis and, above all, the fiscal adjustment undertaken since 2010 have impacted negatively on this policy. The reduction of organizations, plans and actions can lead to a situation of some irrelevance compared to other local policies that also affect the tourist dynamics of these cities.
