Zusammenfassung:Insertion of two chest tubes is not more effective than the insertion of a single chest tube after pulmonary lobar or sublobar surgery. [...] using a single tube is in fact more effective than using two tubes in that it could lessen pleural fluid loss and is more cost-effective. The catheter related local infection (CRLI) rate was 4.6 per 1000 catheter days, highest for the femoral site, and the catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) rate was 1.98 per 1000 catheter days, highest for the jugular route; however, the number of infections was insufficient to perform statistical analysis to reach a significant level.
