Zusammenfassung: | This article presents an analysis of the application of the flageolet technique on the bass guitar in Jaco Pastorius’s composition Portrait of Tracy. Of particular interest is the musician’s endeavor to combine bass and melodic functions on the bass guitar, which makes it possible to get an additional acoustic volume. At the same time, the use by J. Pastorius of the technique of natural and artificial flageolets as the main tuning and melodic means creates a palette of bright lines and original timbre colors. |
