Zusammenfassung:The objective of this paper is to investigate some aspects involved in the invention of national culture and Brazilian territory in order to better understand two phenomena characteristic in this history: discrimination and social inequality. In this task we try to combine synchronic aspects (criticism of theories and thoughts) and diachronic (historical contextualization). The theme of miscegenation was chosen as the articulating axis of the discussion, since its elaboration occupies an important space in the debate known as "interpretations of Brazil”. In the end, it is observed that historically discriminated groups have also been relegated to the most economically fragile positions and, if laws and discourses punish these practices today, these groups still need to mobilize to survive with dignity and preserve their cultures. Discrimination and social inequality, although not confused, go hand in hand in the Brazilian social structure - one reinforcing the other.
