Zusammenfassung: | Background: students constitute a source of basic information to assess the quality of their professional training, pointing out their strengths and weaknesses, which can be used with a view to improving the training process. Objective: to describe the student perception of the quality of their professional training at the end of the 5th year of the Medicine career of the Perfect Study Plan of 2013, at the Faculty of Medicine of the Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences. Methods: a descriptive study was carried out between September-November 2019. Theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction; empirical: analysis of documents and survey in the form of a questionnaire to students and teachers. For the improvement proposal, the “brainstorming” technique was applied. Results: the student perception of their preparation received an evaluation of 4, the greatest insufficiencies were in the performance of the physical examination in Surgery and Urology, some forms of organization of teaching, indication of medical treatment and the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic skills and techniques. . Among the most identified barriers were the massive enrollment, the short time and insufficient training to achieve practical skills in some rooms and the insufficient tutorial function of some teachers. Conclusions: the student perception regarding the quality of their training can be described as good, although some deficiencies were noted. The study carried out contributes to continue perfecting the educational teaching process in order to achieve an increasingly competent graduate of the medical sciences. |
