Zusammenfassung:This article aims to analyze the Ptolemaic Egypt’s material culture from two examples: the Raphia Decree and the Temple of Edfu. It is argued that the two artifacts can contradict the idea of a “Hellenized” Ptolemaic Egypt, very present in the historiography of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, since both carry several references to the Pharaonic period.
