Zusammenfassung:Introduction: Obesity is a disease, considered one of the main public health problems. And it is related to the emergence of other Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases (DTAS). However, it is a condition that can be faced and reversed. For this there are several forms of treatment, among which the group methodology stands out, which has been strongly recommended. Objective: to evaluate the behavioral and alimentary changes of patients with obesity after intervention of therapeutic group in Basic Units of Health in the Municipality of Caicó-RN. Methods: This is a quasi-experimental intervention study. The sample consisted of 50 individuals of both sexes, in which the questionnaires of Stages of Change in Weight Loss (Transtheoric Model) were applied; Periodic Feed Compulsion Scale (ECAP); Stunkard Silhouettes Scale (Body Image) and Food Frequency Questionnaire (QFA). Nutritional status was assessed by means of anthropometric measurements. Results: The intervention group was observed for the high adherence group, improvements in behavioral attitudes, with evaluation of Transtheoric Model, ECAP and body image perception. Changes in dietary intake with increased intake of raw salads, vegetables and fruits (p=0.049, 0.030 and 0.001, respectively) and reduction of anthropometric means BMI, CC, CA and% GC (p=0.003, 0.008, 0.015 and 0.024, respectively) between the two moments of evaluation. Conclusion: This strategy proved to be positive for coping with obesity, however, there is a need for further studies for a referential basis that encourages its application in the actions of health teams.
