Zusammenfassung: | This study aimed at analyzing the motivation caused by teaching music to children. It was a qualitative research and data was collected and registered through direct observation. Music classes to children age range from 3 to 6 years old were observed at Centro de Convivência Infantil – Lageado (CCI). The classes aimed at reaching three different goals: a musical instrument making, music learning and a recital preparation for Mother` s day. The instrument making was a motivating activity involving all children and bringing novelty to their lives, even though, they had had some handcraft practices before. The theoretical classes were based on music theory and playful activities. During this phase, group motivation varied and it was higher when the child was immersed in playing with the whole group. The children were less motivated when the activities were carried out with musical instruments because they worked in pairs and they had to take turns using them, so they lost concentration while waiting. Motivation in these activities was influenced by many different factors such as: teachers, tasks, time, group and the school as a whole. The rehearsals for the Mother `s day recital had vocal and instrumental participation and the lyrics was composed by sentences made by the children themselves to honor their mothers. The instrumental part applied what had been learned in previous classes. At this point motivation also varied, initially intense, then lower during the rehearsals and high again at the presentation. |
