Zusammenfassung:[Display omitted] •New transfer function named Variation of Interfacial Temperature is presented.•Experimental set-up to quantify temperature variation in situ at the interface.•Thermometric measurements in AC experiments at low frequencies.•Adsorption on the electrode surface during ferro/ferricyanide EIS measurements. A feasible method to acquire the temperature variation associated with the electrochemical Peltier heat due to a sinusoidal potential perturbation depending on variable frequency is presented. The results are qualitatively interpreted with a new transfer function named Variation of Interfacial Temperature (VIT). The experimental determination of the VIT necessitated building a thermometric set-up with a thermistor inserted in the working electrode. The proposed methodology is tested on two substrates, platinum and graphite, in the ferro/ferricyanide electrochemical system.
