Zusammenfassung:Results of using "ion thinning" techniques as final stage in the preparation of polished samples of portland cement clinker for SEM studies are showed. Under proper conditions, flat and clean surfaces are obtained which allow to discriminate textural facts (grain size, form, etc.), hardly to see on conventional polished samples due to the similarities of the secondary electron emission of the clinker minerals.
