Zusammenfassung: | Ephesus faced a lot of changes between 70 B.C. and 73 A.D. At the beginning of the period, the Roman domination imposed on the Greek city resulted in financial pressure, civil war destructions and institutional changes. By the end of the period, Roman order became accepted: it was based on the imperial cult and the construction of monuments in the capital of Asia. Italic immigrants benefited from the trade of ceramics, wine or slaves. They also took part in the local civic structures and held liturgies and magistracies. Integration actually concerned in the meantime Greeks, who accepted the Roman domination, while Italics became Ephesian citizens. |
