Zusammenfassung: | The increased life expectancy of animals increases the incidence of neoplasms. Mammary neoplasia is among the most common diseases in dogs. In 35 to 50% of female dogs, breast tumors are malignant. The major importance of malignant neoplasms is the ability to generate metastasis, as the possibility of death increases. Clinical staging is part of cancer care, and aims to stipulate the prognosis and the best treatment. The sentinel lymph node comprises the first lymph node to drain tumor cells, and from there it can be distributed to other organs. Knowing the importance of breast cancer, this study aims to review the main aspects of this condition in bitches, as well as prognosis, treatments and adjuvant therapies.
