Zusammenfassung:Emotional intelligence is an important factor for academic and professional success, and of course for everyday life in general. The general objective of this study was to determine emotional intelligence and its relationship with academic performance in university nursing students, National University of Asunción, Coronel Oviedo – Paraguay, year 2022. The design was observational, descriptive, correlational. The population consists of 102 enrolled students. The sample was census. As an instrument, the TMMS-24 questionnaire was applied, which contains three key dimensions of emotional intelligence: emotional attention, emotional clarity and emotional regulation. Regarding academic performance, the averages of the grades obtained from the total number of subjects taken were obtained. The analysis was carried out using the STATA 12.0 statistical package. Most relevant findings: regarding the level of emotional intelligence, 82.3% correspond to a medium level, 10.8% low and 6.9% high; Regarding academic performance, 55.9% corresponds to excellent performance, 36.3% very good and 7.8% good.
