Zusammenfassung:Objective: to evaluate the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs among university students and their quality of life. Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out among 97 physical education students at the State University of Bahia, Brazil. Results: the prevalence of alcohol use was 81.4% and of tobacco 23.7%; among illicit substances, marijuana was the most prevalent (22.6%). The average score for quality of life for both sexes was 75.0; the environmental domain scored the worst evaluation, with an average score of 56.2. Conclusion: the prevalence of alcohol use was greater than that of other drugs and its use, along with the use of marijuana, represented the greatest percentage for moderate and high risk among students. The majority of students evaluated their quality of life and satisfaction with their own health as either good or very good.
