Editorial - Structural Anthropology Today

This issue of Issues in Ethnology and Anthropology – Structural Anthropology Today is dedicated to the great French anthropologist and philosopher Claude Lévi-Strauss. On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of Lévi-Strauss, in November 2008, the Department of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade paid tribute to this exceptional scientist by organizing an international symposium at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. Today, a year later, comes out this thematic issue of our journal, the fruit of theoretical and methodological research and of a more advanced analytical study of the ideas that we heard in the papers presented during this colloquium. The publication of this issue of our journal is also marked by the sad news of the death of Lévi-Strauss on October 30, 2009 at the dawn of his 101st year: it is in honor of him that this colloquium was organized and it is to him that this thematic issue is dedicated. Praised and contested, structural anthropology and the work of Claude Lévi-Strauss will continue to inspire generations of current and future ethnologists and anthropologists.
