Surgical crossroads: Unravelling mesenteroaxial volvulus and diaphragmatic eventration

Gastric volvulus (GV) is a rare but lethal condition, mostly presenting secondary to eventration of the diaphragm, with a common underlying pathology: laxity or absence of intraperitoneal ligaments. Zusammenfassung:Gastric volvulus (GV) is a rare but lethal condition, mostly presenting secondary to eventration of the diaphragm, with a common underlying pathology: laxity or absence of intraperitoneal ligaments. Here, we present a similar case in a 2-year-old child associated with a wandering spleen (WS), complicated by a splenic volvulus (SV) and eventration of the small and large intestines up till the splenic flexure. Understanding the importance of timely detection and invasive intervention is integral in such cases and more research is needed to understand the pathophysiology, clinical management, and long-term effects of this unusual mix.
