Zusammenfassung:The book, whose discussion opened the congress dedicated to Emilio Sereni, 50 years after the publication of “Storia del paesaggio agrario italiano”, propose one very first reflection on Sereni’s scientific heritage, in consideration first of all of historical materialism and his relationship with the Hebraic culture and coexisting philosophical elaboration by Walter Benjamin; secondarily, in consideration of the contribution given to the Italian landscape protection within a “territorialist” view. Regarding this latter theme, an interesting intervention made by Sereni at the first congress organized by “Italia Nostra” association in 1966, has been brought to the light, and can taught us so much in parallel with the main essay.
