Zusammenfassung: | The menstrual cycle is a process of normative changes in physiological functions experienced by women periodically every month. Changes in the levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone that occur in the menstrual cycle can affect the incidence of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) lesions. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional analytic study, with a sample of 191 subjects with inclusion criteria of patients undergoing RAS or having a history of RAS occurrence in the last month. Research data was collected using Google Form. Data analysis used Chi-Square test (p 0.05). Results: This study showed a significant relationship between the menstrual cycle and RAS. Subjects in the luteal phase had a 2.45 times greater risk of experiencing RAS than the follicular phase (p=0.01, CI=1.22-4.93, OR=2.45). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the menstrual cycle and RAS in the Dentistry Faculty of Universitas Syiah Kuala students. |
