Racemose neurocysticercosis presenting in a Brazilian tourist in Egypt, as a first-time seizure: A rare presentation in an increasingly recognized entity

Given the patient's country of origin and positive serological testing for cysticercosis via EITB assay upon admission, besides the characteristic radiological features, we favored NCC as a preliminary diagnosis. [...]the patient was scheduled for a craniotomy to excise the lesion or obtain a biopsy to lead the management algorithm forward. The cyst's membrane demonstrated a highly convoluted pattern under the microscope (Fig. 1, panels C & D), with extensive microvilli scattered over its external surface (Fig. 1, panel E), consistent with the diagnosis of the racemose form of NCC, which is a rare form of NCC and not typically seen at such a young age.
