INTERRELATIONS BETWEEN THE HUMAN CYTOMEGALOVIRUS INFECTION AND THE PERIODONTAL PATHOLOGY

Aim of the study Identification of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in periodontal pockets in patients with chronic and aggressive periodontitis. Material and methods The study included 14 patients (23 males and 10 females) with chronic periodontitis (mean age value 39 ± 6.7 years old) and 19 patients with aggressive periodontitis (mean age value 30 ± 4.8 years old). The clinical examination assessed the plaque index, the gingival index, the gingival bleeding index, the probing depths, the clinical attachment, the clinic mobility.
