Zusammenfassung:Simonovsky building with the Church of the Nativity of Christ is one of the dominant buildings in the complex of buildings of the Bishop's Court in Vologda. According to historical information, the building was constructed in the period from 1667 to 1670 by archbishop Simon. The period is characterized by active construction of stone buildings at the Bishop's Court and evolvement of its spatial and planning structure. The architecture of the building testifies to the wide spread of Russian ornamentation in Vologda in the second half of the 17th century. The heritage building presents a three-storied rectangular brick building with an open gallery on the main southern elevation and a high quadruple of the chapel with a cupola. For the first time, the article addresses the issues of the spatial planning, compositional and figurative solutions of the monument and analyzes changes in its appearance over a wide timeframe.
