Zusammenfassung: | The aim of this paper is to find out linguistic factors which explain the variation between Subordinate Clause and Infinitive with manipulative verbs: negative verbs (impedio, prohibeo, deterreo) and positive ones (cogo, iubeo). The hypothesis is that, being a less integrated subordination variant, Subordinate Clauses imply a less strong conceptual integration. The research presented here shows a number of linguistic factors supporting the hypothesis, for instance syntactic negation in the main predicate, non-factual mood, modality attenuators, and modal verbs. |
