Zusammenfassung:The paper defines the term of the Western Balkans. It analyzes population trends and some parameters of the age structure of population. Depopulation is evident on the whole territory of West Balkan. In this paper special attention is paid to the last decade of the 20th and early 21st century, because at the time, new borders between countries in Balkan have been established. With border changes, political changes and other transition processes occurred. Using data from different statistical institutions of the Western Balkans and the well-known statistic and mathematic methods, the comparable relative numbers were obtained. The paper tries to explain differences between the genders and between countries of the Western Balkans. The results are presented in graphs and maps.
