Zusammenfassung:Service - learning is a teaching and learning method that integrates volunteer activities within organizations, typically non-profits or social service groups. This concept emerged in the 1960s in the United States and has since seen significant growth in higher education worldwide. Studies indicate that service - learning not only helps students develop professional and personal skills but also fosters social responsibility and enhances understanding of community issues. By analyzing and comparing service - learning models in various countries, the article provides a comprehensive overview of how universities have incorporated this activity into their curricula, highlighting implementation methods, achieved outcomes, and encountered challenges. Consequently, the article offers suggestions and recommendations for applying this model in Vietnam, including curriculum design, faculty training, and building collaborative relationships with community organizations.
