Zusammenfassung:This article presents the results of research developed in the Department of Geography of the University of São Paulo, in order to understand the limits and possibilities of the application of Law 10.639 / 2003 for the teaching of Geography. For that, a case study was carried out, accompanying, for 6 months, the work of a geography teacher in a public school of the state network of São Paulo. During this period, it was possible to observe the didactic actions developed by the teacher, in order to problematize and recreate the geography curriculum, articulating it with the debates about the geography of Africa and the Black Question in Brazil and in the World. Despite the difficulties presented, the work carried out by the accompanying teacher showed the importance of constructing other forms of understanding of knowledge and geography that make it possible to overcome a vision of the Eurocentred world and that has, in its foundations, racism. Acting critically in relation to the curriculum, the teacher can construct didactic actions that, when dialoguing with the geography of Africa and with the black question, allow the students another look at themselves, their identities and geographies.
