Zusammenfassung:Introduction: Advances in nuclear medicine require competent specialists capable of using the technologies and managing radioactive waste. Objective: To design a competency training model for radioactive waste management for nuclear medicine technologists. Methods: A development research was carried out in which the documentary analysis of Safety Guide No. SSG-45 and Safety Standards No. GSG-1, both from the International Atomic Energy Agency, was applied to determine which knowledge makes up the competencies in radioactive waste management for nuclear medicine technologists. Systematization was used to determine the foundations that support the competency training model. Considering the results of the documentary analysis and the systematization carried out, the subsystems that would make up the model were determined. Results: The contextualizing and integrative logic of the training of this competence was revealed, through a model structured in three subsystems: understanding the radiological context, technological mediation of training in radioactive waste management and transformation of the radiological context, with their respective components and resulting synergistic qualities. Conclusions: The competency training model offers a solution in the training process of nuclear medicine technologists, regarding radioactive waste management and its impact on professional performance, from a contextualizing and integrative logic.
