Zusammenfassung: | Desertification today causes great damage worldwide, which is measured by several milliards of dollars. 110 countries of the world have arid and/or semi-arid areas and as such they represent potentially threatened countries by the process of desertification Raw material extraction and the trend of increasing and larger-scale demands for natural resources created a new form of desertification. There are areas with substantial and very complex degradation and erosion processes. The area of Serbia and Montenegro is one of the endangered areas by land desertification and/or drought. The objective of the Convention is to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought in countries experiencing serious drought and/or desertification, in order to achieve sustainable development of the affected areas. It is assessed that special significance of the National Action Programme within the framework of the Convention to combat desertification are the spheres of agriculture, forestry, mining, sustainable use of ground water and environmental protection. |
