A rare case of MET exon 14 skipping mutation-positive pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma with pancreatic metastasis

Lung sarcomatoid carcinoma is a rare tumor. We report a rare case of pancreatic metastasis in a 76-year-old man with lung sarcomatoid carcinoma. Right upper lobectomy was performed, and the patient was diagnosed with pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma with a MET exon 14 skipping mutation. A biopsy of the pancreatic lesion subsequently revealed pancreatic metastasis. A MET exon 14 skipping mutation was confirmed, and the patient was treated with a MET tyrosine kinase inhibitor and maintained a complete response for 2 years. Lung sarcomatoid carcinoma rarely metastasizes to the pancreas and can be adequately treated with a MET tyrosine kinase inhibitor. •Pancreatic metastasis from pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma is extremely rare.•MET exon 14 splicing mutation is frequently observed in sarcomatoid carcinomas.•MET tyrosine kinase inhibitors adequately treat pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma.
