A proposal of general requirements for design of rail mass transit systems

Based on the European Union directive concerning heavy railway systems interoperability and European Union directive proposal on design and construction of Urban Rail Transit Systems, the paper proposes lists of subsystems that belong to Urban Rail Transit Systems and general technical requirements for that systems that should be taken into consideration when designing and Building Rail Mass Transit Installations in order to be interoperable and technically harmonized with Urban Rail Mass Transit Installations of European Union. Among other benefits, technical harmonization of local legislations would enable Rail Mass Transit Installations component producers much longer production runs and higher quality of products which would benefit all stakeholders.
