Efficacy of empirical therapy with non-carbapenems for urinary tract infections with extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae

Highlights • Empirical use of non-carbapenems for UTIs with ESBL-producing bacteria was examined. • Mortality did not differ between the susceptible and non-susceptible groups. • Use of immunosuppressive agents was the independent risk factor for 14-day morality.
