Zusammenfassung:In this article we review the indigenous myths of the Nahua world in the poetry of Octavio Paz. We start from the idea of a myth as an identifying aspect of culture, located as a manifestation of syncretism of Mexico. Quetzalcoatl, the legend of the suns and the Aztec calendar, as well as the image of Coatlicue constitute our dialogue, although some other gods of the pre-Hispanic imagery will be referred to Octavio Paz´s poetical work.
